The Evo 6-speed transmission, designated the W6MAA by Mitsubishi, is found only in the Evo 8 and Evo 9. It features an excellent close ratio gear set and shifts very nicely. The gearbox does struggle to hold torque when pushed hard. The most common failures are synchros, as well as breaking 4th gear and twisting and breaking the diff tube.
